The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is a non-profit making Society registered under the Societies Registration Act of 1860. It was initially founded in 1941 as the association of Principals of Technical Institutions (APTI) and later transformed as ISTE in 1968 with a view to enlarge its activities to advance the cause of technological education. The key objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the education and development of top quality professional engineers needed by industry and other organizations. Being the only national body of educators in the field of Engineering & Technology, ISTE endeavors to effectively contribute in various missions of the Government. It is well associated with the Ministry of HRD, AICTE/DST/MlT/State Governments etc. for the programs realated to Technical Education
The institute, one of the pioneering engineering institutions of the country, was established in 2009 affiliated with l. K. Gujral Punjab Technical University(lKG - PTU), approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). At present, there are eight undergraduate courses in the discipline of engineering, three courses in the discipline of management. It has an excellent placement record with a number of top ranking companies visiting the campus. The whole campus has connectivity of the internet with fiber optic network including faculty quarters and student hostels. The institute is located at Khanna, about 35 kms from Ludhiana and is very well connected by rail and road links to Ambala (70 kms) as well as Chandigarh (80 kms). The institute is approximately 4 kms away from Khanna Railway Station. Ludhiana is the industrial city with historical importance and is well known for Textile, Cycle and Forging industries.
This Convention is expected to have participation of senior faculty of Technical Education from all states and colleges of the country and foreign delegates. The theme of the forthcoming convention is "Intelligent Technologies for Better Tomorrow". Its outcomes are aimed at giving directions to the policy makers & educators. Second day of this convention will conclude several panel discussions are planned with focus on the " Industry-Institute Interface for Technical & Management Education'.

The theme of the forthcoming convention is "Intelligent Technologies for Better Tomorrow". Its outcomes are aimed at giving directions to the policy makers & educators.
